We took a trip to the Twin Lakes golf course for beautiful fall color and family pictures for the Meadows. Our kids all laid down on the grass and Nik grabbed this shot:

Star Trails at Folsom Lake

November 2nd, 2010 by nik

This summer was full of wonderful moments for me, one of which was sitting at Folsom Lake playing guitar with with my friends, waiting for this photo. The exposure took an hour, and was taken with my Leica IIIf, which is probably the funnest camera I own.

Taken at Folsome Lake, CA, July 2010.

Location Scouting: Ravenna Airport

October 2nd, 2010 by christopher

We’re doing a wedding for two pilots, and thought that the Ravenna Airport might be a good venue for engagement portraits. The airport is uncontrolled and has very low traffic, so we were able to get out on the runway for a few shots. With dramatic clouds and evening light, this could be a fantastic spot.

Location Scouting: Downtown Kent

October 2nd, 2010 by christopher

Nik and I took a trip to downtown Kent scouting out good spots for shooting engagement and family portraits. The bricks and buildings of downtown Kent make a great portrait venue. The organic, soft nature of people make them jump out against  uniform color backgrounds. Man-made textures like brick bring visually exciting lines to the photograph that direct your eye throughout the picture.

Mo Dog

May 3rd, 2010 by nik

Mo dog at play in the northeast Ohio winter. That dog just loves the snow.

I love the way that wide angle lenses distort objects at close range.  It makes for an energetic shot, and can emphasize humorous objects, in this case Mo’s gigantic snout.
